Day 35: Weekly Roundup – July 31 – August 6

It was another light week, but I was still able to post two trailers and two short-write ups. I’m almost ready to get fully back into the swing of things. I just need another week or two. As a quick reminder, I discussed two movies this week:

  • Don’t Breathe (2016)
  • XX (2017)

I enjoyed parts of both of these movies, though XX, as a whole, worked a bit better than Don’t Breathe. That being said, in the end, they both ended up in the same category:

  • Worth Seeking Out (i.e. Worth Paying For): N/A
  • Worth Watching via Free Streaming: Don’t Breathe, XX
  • Worth Watching on an International Flight or While Doing Work: N/A
  • Worth Avoiding and Doing Something Better with Your Time: XX

Again, I think both of these movies are worth seeing, but not necessarily worth paying for. Also, even though I was a bit harsh on Don’t Breathe in my write up, I still think it offers a lot for fans of horror. Check it out, just lower your expectations a bit.

Both of these movies made it on my top ten list, though, a bit closer to the bottom, so, don’t expect them to be on there for long. Also, I moved stuff around a bit (mostly at the top), which will keep happening depending on the day of the week and my overall mood while writing my weekly roundups. As always, though, the distance between the three movies at the top are narrow and, if I were being honest, I would call them a tie (but that would really mess up the numbering… so, I’m forced to make some arbitrary decisions).

  • The Invitation
  • Bone Tomahawk
  • They Look Like People
  • Train to Busan
  • The Wailing
  • V/H/S/2
  • XX
  • We Are Still Here
  • Don’t Breathe
  • V/H/S

Well, that’s it. Keep an eye out for a few more trailers and some short reflections on movies I never got the chance to write up.
