I figured I’d continue my streak of possible non-horror trailer postings. I’m assuming this is a horror since I’ve this trailer has been in front of every recent horror movie … Continue reading Trailer: The Gift
Trailer: The Boy
My friend emailed my this trailer a few days back with the following subject line “would you count this as a horror movie?”. After watching the trailer a few times … Continue reading Trailer: The Boy
Weekly Roundup: July 20 – 26
It was a slow start to the week, and in the end I only watched three movies… but, man, what movies they were!
- Honeymoon (2014)
- Stake Land (2010)
- Torment (2013)
All three of these movies are worth see (to some extent). I’m very excited that all three ended up being worth my time:
- Worth Seeking Out (i.e. Worth Paying For): Honeymoon (2014)
- Worth Watching via Free Streaming: Stake Land (2010)
- Worth Watching on an International Flight or While Doing Work: Torment (2013)
- Worth Avoiding and Doing Something Better with Your Time: Luckily, there was nothing in this category this week
Two out of the three movies I watched this week made it onto my cumulative top-ten list. The exciting thing is that I would actively re-watch any of the movies on this list… okay… maybe not The Canal… so close!
- Housebound
- Pontypool
- Honeymoon
- Starry Eyes
- The House at the End of Time
- Here Comes the Devil
- The Nightmare
- Stake Land
- The Taking of Deborah Logan
- The Canal
Next week might be another light week. It’s going to be a busy week, but I will try my best to post every day… even if it’s just something short.
See you tomorrow!

Netflix Roulette: Honeymoon
I thought I posted this yesterday, but apparently not… so, get ready for two posts today: this one and then my weekly roundup. The streak continues… I can’t believe my … Continue reading Netflix Roulette: Honeymoon
Netflix Roulette: Stake Land
Now that I’m back on the horse, I decided to play another round of Netflix Roulette, and while I don’t really believe in fate, higher powers, or the like (sorry … Continue reading Netflix Roulette: Stake Land
Random Thoughts: I May Have Written Too Much
So, with the last post my blog is officially longer than my dissertation. Now, I’ve clearly not put as much work into this experiment, but still I think it’s a … Continue reading Random Thoughts: I May Have Written Too Much
Netflix Roulette: Torment
Hello all! Let me begin by apologizing for the radio silence over the past few days. I actually watched a movie on Monday morning (which, I will be writing up … Continue reading Netflix Roulette: Torment
Weekly Roundup: July 13 – 19
This week I played a few games of Netflix Roulette (I lost more than I won) and watched one new movie… which nearly sapped the joy of movie watching from me:
- Animal (2014)
- The Gallows (2015)
- Pontypool (2008)
- The Shrine (2010)
Three out of the four movies I watched were abysmal… but Pontypool made up for it… in spades:
- Worth Seeking Out (i.e. Worth Paying For): Pontypool
- Worth Watching via Free Streaming: Nothing in this category this week
- Worth Watching on an International Flight or While Doing Work: Animal (2014)
- Worth Avoiding and Doing Something Better with Your Time: The Gallows (2015) and The Shrine (2010)
One of the movies I watched this week made it onto my cumulative top-ten list… the exciting thing though, is that it came in pretty high. Also, I realized I haven’t been including movies from my “In ‘Theaters’ Now” category… and, while including this category means only a single addition to the list, it is a pretty important addition. This list is finally starting to take form. I would actively re-watch nearly all of these movies… it’s going to start getting hard to bump stuff off the list. which, is pretty exciting:
- Housebound
- Pontypool
- Starry Eyes
- The House at the End of Time
- Here Comes the Devil
- The Nightmare
- The Taking of Deborah Logan
- The Canal
- Neverlake
- Alyce Kills
I have nothing specific planned for next week. I’ll probably play a few rounds of Netflix Roulette. I may also watch a reader recommended movie, possible an episode of a horror TV show, and/or start my new group of classics revisited (I finally came up with something). Whatever I decided I promise you plenty of posts.
See you tomorrow!

Netflix Roulette: Animal
After the joy of writing up Pontypool yesterday, I was reluctant to take another spin of the wheel. I know that may seem weird since my viewing of Pontypool was … Continue reading Netflix Roulette: Animal
