Weekly Roundup: June 7 – 13

Two weeks down and I haven’t gone crazy… yet. This week I watched six movies (which surprised me since I didn’t get started until Wednesday):

  • The Damned (2013)
  • Human Centipede III (Final Segment) (2015)
  • Insidious (2010)
  • Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)
  • Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)
  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

Of these six movies I would only give one a hard pass (Human Centipede III (Final Segment)… not sure if that was another Human Centipede pun… if so, I pray it’s the last). As for the others, here’s how I rate them:

  • Worth Seeking Out (i.e. Worth Paying For): Insidious (2010) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
  • Worth Watching via Free Streaming: Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)
  • Worth Watching on an International Flight or While Doing Work: The Damned (2013) and Insidious Chapter 3 (2015)
  • Worth Avoiding and Doing Something Better with Your Time: Human Centipede III (Final Segment) (2015)

I’ll be back tomorrow with a new (full post). Most of next week will probably be a mix of rounds of Netflix Roulette and revisiting a few classics. I really enjoyed the watching The Texas Chainsaw Massacre this week, and if Netflix keeps choosing haunted-house movies for me, I may need to cleanse my pallet with a few other classic slasher films (maybe Halloween and/or Friday the 13th). I also really want to see the half-documentary The Nightmare (I loved Rodney Ascher’s last movie, Room 237, which was weirdly frightening, even though it was only about wacky theories surrounding The Shining)… so, maybe I’ll try to seek that out later in the week…
